I'm not sure where in Rhode Island you live, but we don't talk similarly to that of a pirate. Along with that, our vowels are pronounced regularly. None of them are clipped or shortened. As for excluding our "R"s, that's a Boston accent.

I think they put "fixing to" and "gonna" together.

Gonna=going to

Only we southerners will understand "finna"

If you watch TV or movies, that's the accent I have. It's default English to me.
What I mean is that people want to hear it, and speak that way. Is there a name for this accent?
