Christians don't say "being homosexual is a sin and you'll go to hell for it" to bully someone; they're saying it as a warning.
It's like screaming at a blind person who's walking towards the edge of a cliff...You're not criticising them, you're warning them.
Now, if you say: "God hates geys. So God hates you, and I hope you go die in a hole slowly and painfully" is discrimination, and unbiblical; so I doubt something like that would be allowed.
We can't just pick and choose what we want from the constitution. The right of Freedom of Religion exists. Christians aren't physically harming anyone by writing "God created water" on their tests, or by stating that homosexuality is a sin.
Forbidding religious people to be religious, is discrimination...
MegaBeanish (2014-03-29 00:09:26)You people that are only concerned about this bill or support it because it makes tests easier...you need some serious help.

MegaBeanish (2014-03-29 00:11:12)Lani, you know people can say "being homosexual is a sin and you'll go to hell for it" to bully someone too. Think about it.
-Lance Corporal Rodriguez (USMC)
You can say your mother's cooking is bad to bully her, too. I don't see any laws against that...
Because the bible supports the belief that homosexuality is a sin (and a homosexual will therefore be sent to hell); makes the statement: "Geys are going to hell" a true, religious statement.
If you said to your mother: "You're going to hell for your bad cooking" that's not a religious statement because the bible doesn't support it...therefore, it's strictly to make her upset...Do you get my point? J:
Let's face it. Insults are going to happen wherever you go...They can't outlaw insults/discrimination, because people can be insulted by anything...especially in this thin-skinned society--Oh, I'm sorry. Please don't pass a bill to forbid me from calling our society thin-skinned o.o
HanShotFirst (2014-03-29 00:25:06)For the record Lani, People are allowed to be religious in a private setting.
You know, like Churches, Synagogues, and the like.
You know, the place where this stuff belongs.
There's also a very nifty passage in the bible about praying/praising god in public. I suggest you read it, because it basically says the same thing I just told you.
As for other religions, I'll have to dig up their holy books and check.

@Hans
Religion isn't just a hobby people do on Sundays or Holidays. It's a way of life.
Worshipping (praying and praising) God should certainly be done at home or in churches. But the bill isn't encouraging students to jump up on their desks and start singing hymns and start worshipping their god(s). It's only protecting their freedom.
The Bible approves of sharing your faith or condemning sinners in public, just as Jesus and Paul did. Speaking about your religioius beliefs is different from private worship...
This bill is merely protecting the Freedom of Speech, and the Freedom of Religion. You really want to sign a petition against that?
TREEhugger101 (2014-03-29 01:19:15)I feel like this whole thread is about to devolve into 'christians are so crazy though'. Lol.

"Pikarceus, you are hugely biased. Your opinion has no weight."
Pikarceus asks why he is biased.
"You have actively given yourself the reputation of being biased."
Is the reply, but it still doesn't answer his question.
Whoever you are, no I didn't bother to remember your username, please actually explain your point if you're going to bother saying something like that in the first place. He is just saying his opinion. If you don't agree with him, you don't have to insult him. It seems to me like you don't know the meaning of the word "biased" and you are trying to sound smart but that's just my opinion.
carlos11 (2014-03-29 02:07:02)^It's the same person that declared a certain thread to be "autism."
I must say I agree, though. I feel pika is only seeing things his way, completely disregarding other's viewpoints, such as the homosexuals'. People already have enough religious freedom. I know this because I could practice any religion if I wanted to. What this bill is, however, is a justification for behavior that would otherwise be considered immoral. Seriously, when do you ever hear people telling someone they'll go to hell in a nice way? It's not a "warning," it's an expression of dissent, intolerance, and pure hatred. Under this law, kids can preach creationism during bio, spread the word of god at lunch time, and put down homosexuals any time they want without the teachers being able to do anything about it because those kids are protected by this bill. Regardless, I may be doing the same thing, only seeing things my way.

Language is a tool for efficient communication. The internet is a tool for fast communication. Do not defy both intents by posting incoherent writing.

So.. Did he literally say "this thread is autism" or something? If so than he really needs a dictionary.
HanShotFirst (2014-03-29 03:08:29)@Lani:
Endangered animals have laws to protect them. They need protection because there are credible threats to their safety, such as destruction of natural habitat, destruction due to invasive species, illegal and morally dubious animal trades, and other things that lead to animals being killed.
Civil service officers have laws protecting them from assault, because there are credible threats to their safety. The mailman, the bus driver, and others, are protected by law, because people can and have assaulted them for various reasons.
Government buildings have protection, because there are credible threats to their safety
Any time something needs protection, it is because there is something threatening it.
So tell me, what is threatening you from practicing your religious beliefs at home or at the designated building for it? What imminent threat is there in the State of Tennessee?
Also, while the bible does promote sharing your belief, you seemed to miss the line where Jesus said "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" when they attempted to publicly condemn a sinner by stoning her. He wasn't alright with the idea of condeming others for their sins.
He did, however, condemn the Pharisees for their ways, which was basically A corrupt organisation operating under the guise of being faithful to their religion and it's doctrines set by their god.
Unfortunately, it was the same God Jesus cared so much for, which is why he kept throwing them parables and publicly denounced them through metaphors, which all basically said "You guys are lying scumbags, and you'll get what's coming to you soon enough."

I'm hugely biased? What's that supposed to mean?
I feel like most of you haven't even looked at what this bill actually said, and are just jumping on the "Christians are evil cuz they h8 g@ys" bandwagon.
