this is nothing new for Nintendo to make different iterations of the same handheld, especially "weird, unnecessary " ones. it happened to ds , it happened to gameboy advance and it will happen to the next handheld.

You don't need to buy the 2DS if you don't want to. It's $40 cheaper than the 3DS, but it's your choice.

Having options is not a bad thing, it's actually a good thing.

But the 2DS is ideal for people who don't like the 3D feature. I like the 3D, so I'm not getting it at all.

Mewtwo21, I think what people are getting at is that with most handheld revisions, Nintendo improves the systems. With this one they aren't.

DSlite was an improvement from the DS, so were the DSi and DSiXL. This IS a step back.

@Elitekiller-Vita isn't even competing with 3DS, they cater to different groups. The only overlap is with dedicated gamers who own multiple systems. And aren't fanboys.

I don't think all those girls who play Animal Crossing that I StreetPass every day plan on getting a Vita.
