After eating a handful of peanut M&Ms, my tongue swelled and my mouth felt like it was burning...I never have this reaction to regular M&Ms, so I assume it's the peanuts. I had a similar reaction to brownies or cookies with walnuts in them....I went to the allergist for a professional opinion. I didn't even have a reaction to the peanut scratch test, however I did have a slight reaction to walnuts and a few other tree nut. It's diagnosed as an intolerance, so although I avoid eating peanuts and walnuts, I won't die if I do.

The oatmeal.....I actually don't know. Whenever I make homemade cookies (which contain oatmeal) or some granola bars, I get yet again a similar reaction to when I eat peanuts. I get the same reaction to other foods sometimes too, but I don't know exactly what it is that's giving me a reaction. The M&Ms give me the worse and quickest reaction though... It's always snack or dessert foods, it seems.
