Fact #2:

Although a market failure, the Atari Jaguar was the first 64-bit game machine on the market. The reason it failed was due largely to the fact that, since developers couldn't comprehend the scope of a 64-bit machine, its library consisted mostly of ports of 16 and 32-bit games. And consumers didn't want to buy a whole new system to play games they already had on their already aging, but considerably less expensive, Genesis, Amiga, and SNES.

Incorrect. The GPU was 32 bit, along with the CPU, while other processors were 64, the cpu and gpu were only 32 bit, so It was not really 64 bit. The only two chips that were 64 bit were the object processor, and blitter. Heck, the main cpu was 16/32 bit.

Also, the system had a multi chip architecture, making it hard to program for, and no games really used the full capabilities.

Well, it is a 64-bit system. It had a 32-bit CPU and a 32-bit GPU, which both add up to 64-bit.

It was like saying that I have a Ferrari just because I have the engine from it.

But the graphics weren't really 64-bit. Only the graphics fanboys got fooled when they heard 64-bit graphics.

So the true 64-bit system was the Nintendo 64.

It is. Basically it's a shaky camera following 2 teenagers (because one is holding the camera) into a forest for 2 hours. The only creepy part is the end, but then it cuts out.


There was a hollywood sequel, But people were smart and pretended it never existed.

@Vectrex, the Sony Playstation and Sega Saturn, released over a year later, were made off of the same kind of technology you claim the Jaguar had... That being said, if you don't count the Jaguar because of that, then Nin10dude is right about the Nintendo 64 being the first 64-bit system.

Also, the Atari Panther was their scrapped attempt at 32-bit gaming. When they wanted to develop a superior console, the Jaguar was their 64-bit console, released in 1993, 3 years before the Nintendo 64. I could probably teach a class on this system, but I like to think I have better ways to spend my time. Cybermorph FTW!!!

Fact #3: Nintendo used to work with Sony to create a new system. Nintendo abandoned it, Sony continued it and boom, the Playstation was born.
