But I always heard how Americans were so nice then I move to Ohio and everyone is rude and socially awkward. I like Alabama because at least people are more hospitable here and they honor their heritage which is always good

Anyways,the confederacy & Union is when the South(confederacy) wanted to leave the United States because the South wanted each state to have their own separate laws. Like each state is a different country. Therefore the Civil War was created.

So I'm originally from France and a bit more than 2 years ago I moved to Canada then America. So far there is some pretty weird things I don't understand. Here's some of them.
-What's the big deal with this whole confederacy thing. I have no clue what it is. All I know is it has something to do with some old civil war America
-Racism, 99.9% of people here in Alabama are racist.
-The social contrast between regions. I first lived in Ohio when I came to America. People in Ohio can get pretty snooty and have no manners and now I currently live in Alabama and the only things they care about are the Bible, the "Confederacy", and their food, and the people here hate those "damn Yanks!" I mean why you Americans have such a strong contrast between regions!?
-The food here is bad no matter where you are. But maybe me being French, my expectations are higher, I don't really know.
-The people. Again another branch of region contrast, people in Ohio all seem to be socially awkward and are really passive aggressive, and somewhat ignorant, and will tell you upfront if they don't like you. In Alabama people are really outgoing and everyone will be nice to your face, then talk trash to you behind your back and are really passive aggressive.
-Guns, why do people like them so much?!
-Oh and this rap and hip-hop junk. Which isn't really limited to but is more prevalent in America.
These are questions I have for you Americans out there. I don't mean this to offend anybody by the way. Please tell me what your take on this.
