It's obviously some sort of malfunction. Homosexual behavior doesn't produce offspring, so there is no reason for it from a survival standpoint.

Are you familiar with the hypothesis that homosexuality is in response to overpopulation?
I say it's rather concrete
Although we aren't overpopulated, our living conditions (urban areas especially) cause the "illusion" that we are
Which explains why there's so many homosexuals from urban areas and such, however that's just a small piece
I personally take it as the best explanation
Of course it happens without it, it may be written in our genetics and pops up accidentally though
