little5 (2014-09-16 19:55:06)Corporal Punishment is a bad way to bring up a child, period. It's damaging to the child's mental and (sometimes) physical health. The discipliner can't really control how hard they're hitting, nor can they control the amount of pain that's being inflicted. If they hit hard enough, the child could be bruised and they could cause even more serious physical/internal damage. This leads to possible bullying (at school) and the child feeling self conscious.
..And that brings me to mental health. Imagine being a small child, harmless, defenseless, and doing what you know best, exploring. You're just about to touch that one shiny object that's caught your eye. You've been wanting to play with it for days. Now, imagine a big man/woman hitting you. You can't fight back, and if you do, they hit harder. You're forced to endure the pain. You probably don't know what you did wrong. Now, imagine it happening on a daily basis. You can't defend yourself against this monster. Not only will it scare you, but you'll feel trapped. Aren't these "monsters" supposed to be helping you? If you tell anyone, you'll possibly get in more trouble.
They learn from their parents, and the only thing that they learn from this is to be more violent. There are proven studies that show that kids who are beaten tend to be more violent. It also teaches the child that the best way to solve a problem is to hit. Not only does it make them violent and nearly incapable of resolving conflict, but it doesn't work for long. Once the child is older, and much more stronger, they'll begin to fight back. This damages the parent-child relationship even more.

little5 (2014-09-16 21:48:23)So, you're implying that the best way to solve problems (the child not listening) is by taking out your frustration on the disobeying child?
Thank you for supporting my argument.
Nutsy (2014-09-16 21:49:26)I know how to raise children, but not babies.
Jason, stfu. Your signature sucks balls.

Jason2k14 (2014-09-16 21:51:42)A signature cannot simply suck a ball.
Or suck anything.
The best way is by throwing a grenade beside a baby, problem solved. Amirite or amiwrong?

harfod (2014-09-16 21:51:59)What you need is trust. My parents were not strict and I turned out alright..... right?
Ok, seriously, I've seen strict parents treat their kids like crap. One family was forced to live in the countryside and they are only allowed 30 minutes a year with their friends. Good work.
should I take requests?
YouMeAtSix (2014-09-16 21:53:23)Sometimes you have to punish a child with a light slap but it needs talking to, to understand what it was doing wrong or it will think your just being unfair
Nutsy (2014-09-16 21:53:51)Diapers suck. Especially when you don't get paid for babysitting the girls in the diapers.
My parents spanked me when I was little. I actually learned my lesson, though. I seem to be an exception to most parentong rules.

Nutsy (2014-09-16 21:56:47)Oh, damn. Jason added a pencil to his signature.
Please stop. We're not even looking for mods right now.

Jason2k14 (2014-09-16 21:59:25)Okay, okay.

little5 (2014-09-16 21:59:38)My parents are all for corporal punishment.
They don't even talk to us or anything. I assume that that's why my brothers are.. Well, how they are.
I tend to stay out of their way.
Oh, and did I mention that my school (a MIDDLE school) has corporal punishment? And so does the high school. They brought it back this year.
What the actual hell.

Spanking isn't too bad when the child is disobedient but a time-out and groundation is somewhat better, in my opinion.
