@Flux I said staring at a computer/gaming device screen doesn't seem very sport-like. I mean you can dumb it down but that's not what I said. Many sports use electronics. Know those basketball buzzers? Electronic!

Okay, dude. I have given reasons and you must be skimming AF but if you aren't and the reasons I listed you just don't consider reasonable enough, my OPINION is that it shouldn't be a sport. You can't argue my opinion, now, because no matter how many times you ask for a reason I've already given it won't change it. So there.

If people like to make "fantasy leagues" for "fantasy sports," that's sort of acknowledging things like fantasy football or fantasy baseball as "sports." If people call those sports, then I would say eSports are justified to be labeled as sports.

However, if you want my true opinion, competitive gaming is what it is: an eSport. I wouldn't put it anywhere near being called a sport like hockey or lacrosse. We have subcategories for a reason.

I will list multiple definitions then.

1) a physical activity (such as hunting, fishing, running, swimming, etc.) that is done for enjoyment (merriam webster)

2) an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc. (dictionary.com)

3) a. An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively. (thefreedictionary.com)

How many more would you like? For the first definition physical activity would limit video games because they are not of the real world. The second would not consider it a sport because it is not an athletic activity. Same as the third. Now how much more of an argument would you want?

A sport imo is just a competition of skill. Of course whenever speople think "sports" they don't think about chess or Smash Bros. though. I don't see a reason why they can't be considered eSports.
