I know why you think Hitler is insane. It's most likely because he wanted certain minorities dead. What you don't understand is his motives.
If a person is raised as a Christian, one does not call that person insane simply because the person's beliefs are stupid. No, you have to understand that society molds people. In that same way, Hitler grew up believing that minorities were at fault for his country's failures. He's not to blame, for the general consensus at the time was not in disagreement with this belief. Once he'd risen to power, he'd already lived a long life. He was not the creator of chaos and hatred, but a product of it. With an extreme nationalistic passion, he yearned to improve the condition of his state and pave the way toward a Third Reich, by any means necessary. And that really does mean at all cost. In a totalitarian state, the individual's sole purpose is to benefit the state. Those whom the state could not benefit from were therefore a hindrance. These detriments to society, by Hitler's rationale, were better dead than alive. Consequently, the mentally ill, the hospitalized, and the homosexuals (because they could not procreate, which in turn rendered them detrimental to society) were murdered. These were the means to an end. All done in the name of the greater good.

I hope you learned something today.
Now, tell me, was he insane?
