As he crouched in the pipe, Aracknus notices a older teenager sneak by the wreckage of the truck and sneak towards the center of SERN's base.
Aracknus, seeing the sword, assumes that he's a fairly able person, probably looking for a team mate to work with, so Aracknus sneaks after him.

-SERN mobilises a large-scale raid, sending several helicopters out and convoy vehicles, hoping to kill all of the resistance members remaining, if there were any.-

Cassius continued his stalking towards the SERN base. As the mobilization of their forces increased, so too was the likelyhood their defenses would be easier to compromise. Less upset now about his prior plan literally going up in flames, he ducked into a loose vent, unaware of the person following him.

Aracknus rounds a corner, and finds he has lost track of his quarry.

The humming of a large convoy of vehicles could be heard from the two's position. You could tell they were actually making motion in their plan to get rid of the resistance once and for all, and they damn well wanted it to be over and done with in a short amount of time, hence why they sent out quite a large number of their units. Then, the humming stopped. Audible footsteps, as well as vehicle doors opening and closing before that. "Section, disperse, begin operation." A man called out aloud, letting his squad run off into the dark to hunt the unsuspecting remains of the resistance.

[i], they're close.[i] Aracknus looks behind him and sees no one yet.
He decides to run for it, in front of him are two street turns, one to the left, one to the right.
Aracknus goes left, left is his lucky direction. Down this way is fairly empty, having small crates and boxes stacked at the entrances of doors, and bits of machinery lying inbetween the buildings.
A stray cat yowls at the running Aracknus, as if warning him of something.
