The deepest part of the ocean is the Marianas Trench, which would basically allow you to stuff the entirety of Mount everest, and still be short by a couple thousand feet.

Considering that it would be incredibly easy for a ship to go under and never come back up, and the fact that we've seen 3% of the Ocean at best.

It's pretty believeable that it sunk.
