Lucid means to be aware.
I had lucid dream once, but I couldn't control it. I got too excited and woke up I guess. :c

You just need to prepare yourself before you sleep, there's the Safe and Long way, and the Crap-Your-Pants but Short way.
I know of a site dedicated to Lucidity.
