First off, text decoration.

These are some of the simplest BBCodes here on Plaza, and they're good to learn first, because they give you an idea of how BBCodes work.

Example:

[b]This text will be bold![/b]
[s]This text will be crossed-out![/s]
[i]This text will be slanted![/i]
[u]This text will be underlined![/u]

Result:

This text will be bold!
~~This text will be crossed-out!~~
This text will be slanted!
This text will be underlined!

Now, lines.

These are good for organizing your threads/profile, or noting that you're done with one thing and moving on to another, as shown in this thread. It's quite simple.

Example:

I'm above the line!
[line]
I'm below the line!

Result:

I'm above the line!

I'm below the line!

NOTE: I resized the line in this example, I'll show you how to do that later. For now, pretend that the line in the example/result is full-size.

Coloring time.

Say you're bored of the black text, and you want to add a bit of visual appeal to it? Well, here's how:

[COLOR]Colored text[/COLOR]

If you want mire of an explanation, here goes:

Example:

[red]I'm gonna be red![/red]

Result:

I'm gonna be red!

Of course, you can use more colors than just red. These include:

Pink, Orange, Yellow, Lime, Green, Aqua, Blue, Purple, and more.

mmkay, image time.

Use this code to put an image on your profile. This won't set your background, though. For that, you might want to look in another guide.

Example:

[img]IMG URL here![/img]

Result:

NOTE: You cannot get image URLs on a 3DS, but you can on a PC or DSi. However, if you want an IMG URL effortlessly, then I suggest going here.

Now I'm gonna show you how to highlight text.

This is very simple.

Example:

[hl]I'm highlighted![/hl]

Result:

I'm highlighted!
