When we give up our guns then we give up our right to violently overthrow the government and that makes my penis sad because this country was founded on the basis of having the right to start a violent revolution when oppressed by the governing body.

I'd give up my liberty for my safety if it came down to it.

Wrong. We're not Russia or China lol.

Never. It's what the higher powers want. Disarm the citizens so they can't fight back.

Take a look at the most non-violent countries and you'll see what I mean. Iceland, known to be the most harmless country, prohibit guns and the use of a gun for valid reasons are also restricted. Why can't you be like them?

Yeah. Inglish is hard.

Criminals will still find ways to smuggle weapons even if there is increased regulation. You're just taking protection away from the innocent.

Guns aren't a "human right", it's a constitutional right, which the government isn't supposed to be allowed to touch. You know, same as your freedom of speech and religion (which are both being oppressed, too). For me, it's less of a "I wanna own a gun and I don't want the goberment to stahp me!" rather, I value the laws and freedoms put in place when this country was founded.

Obviously I know gun crimes are an issue in America. Some idiot shot two people in my county just two days ago, my neighbour was shot when I lived in NJ (that's a kicker), my other neighbour had their window shot...I'm no stranger to gun-related crimes and deaths, but again, guns aren't the problem, rather the people who use them are. I don't think it's fair to punish responsible, law-abiding citizens by taking away their sport or defense guns because of other people's misbehavior. That's like a teacher giving everyone in class detention because of that one rowdy kid in the back of the class..

Gun control doesn't guarantee nonexistent gun crimes...sometimes, gun crimes actually increase after bans. Gun crimes are still going to happen with or without a ban...so I think I'd rather have something to protect myself with.

There are plenty of examples where countries have required all households (with some exceptions) to bare arms...in those cases, gun crime rates decreased rapidly. Switzerland, for example, has not banned firearms...in fact, citizens are often given guns for free. However, all Swiss males are required to go through recruitment training for the Swiss army...even before required training, there's optional training for both men and women (under 20 years old) that train them to use assault rifles, which they're allowed to keep at home during the training period. Those who continue to serve in the military are provided with assault rifles, and once service is over they're each given a bolt rifle to take home, they may also get a pistol. The government sells old infantry rifles to the public. Semi-automatic rifles don't require a permit to own, so not everyone in Switzerland is even registered.

Gun crime in Switzerland is near non-existent. They've been living this way for years.

So what does this tell us? If guns were the problem, Switzerland would wipe themselves off the map by now...But because they're trained and taught responsibility with guns, no one touches them, and they don't touch anyone else. Again, gun crimes aren't completely nonexistent, but it isn't nonexistent in any country, with or without gun bans. The US technically has stricter gun laws than Switzerland, yet we don't train our people how to use them or be responsible with them, which is why gun injury and death is common to begin with.

Yes. No automatic weapons for anyone except the military. There is absolutely no reason a citizen should have an automatic weapon with 20+ rounds in a clip. No reason.

What if it's not automatic

"Guns don't kill people, people kill people" is a phrase that's supposed to make you liberals realize that banning guns is not going to stop murders or crime....It's just supressing our liberty and personal safety. No one is saying guns are sential.

I've been saying "gun crimes" as opposed to "gun homocides" for a reason...I know guns aren't always used to kill during crimes.
Also I don't know what level of idiocy it takes to watch someone point a gun at you and just assume they don't intend harm...seriously?
Would you like me to start linking articles of the countless times people have saved lives because they owned guns?

My point would be "irreleveant" if that was the point I was making...but it wasn't. Did you actually read what I was saying or did you just skim through it? I was making the point that possession of guns is not the cause of crimes, rather it decreases crime rates.

Should America make it mandatory for every household to own a gun? Absolutely not, I've been arguing this whole time that too many people are screwed up, which is the real problem. Should America require firearm training for gun owners? That might help, but who knows....the point is, criminals are always going to get their hands on guns, and some of them have the intent to kill...and they certainly will if there's no threat of getting shot back. To use your scissor example, the trouble maker would just purchase his own set of scissors from the blackmarket, come into class and stab people who now don't have their own scissors to stop him with...what are you gonna do, throw a pencil at him?

I'm not saying the US should sit back and do nothing, but taking law abiding citizen's guns away isn't the cure. It's unescessary, because criminals will use guns anyway.
