Here is what I think, and this is just My opinion;

I think the right things to do is save the human. Why? Because, most humans are scared of death. Dogs probably don't think about that sort of thing, but I know for a fact that humans do. Most humans don't WANT to die. Most even have things they want to do before dying, but if they got hit by that car, their chance to do those things would be taken away from them. What if the person about to get hit wanted to start a family? Dogs aren't like that. They live their whole lives perfectly content with lying around, sleeping, eating and showing affection toward their owners.

Dogs are respectable, but how does this sound? You rescue a dog and prevented a death of it. Though your own species died because you didn't help him/her aswell.
