Of course, the Bible mentions science.

I'm a Catholic (F me, right?), but I am very open to scientific theories such as evolution and the big bang.
The secret shall be shared. PM for more info.

@MeNobody: I'll adress your questions one at a time, and to the best of my abilities.

Evolution come in two kinds, Micro and Macro. We can observe Micro Evolution, but cases such as Humans and Apes, and Birds and Dinos, are examples of Macro Evolution, which, despite us being unable to observe, is basically the same thing except over longer intervals of time. Our proof of evolution is in fact, one of the reasons you need to get Flu shots yearly, and why some bacteria eventually become immune to medications. Both of these are examples of Micro Evolution in work.

First and foremost, you need to understand Darwin's concept of "Survival of the Fittest", which is how Evolution occurs. In nature, animals are naturally competing for resources, such as food, mates, territory, ect. It makes sense that the ones best at it survive, and the ones that can't keep up will eventually die out. Eventually, since genetics are diverse, and some slip-ups do occur, a small mutation appears in the species, and that makes it more likely to survive. The ones with this mutation keep on living, and keep passing it on, while the ones without it eventually die.

These mutations are just small things. Bigger teeth, longer fingers, slightly smaller beaks, slightly brighter plumes, ect. They make it just a bit easier.

However, not all mutations are helpful. While that slightly smaller beak may help one species compete better in one environment, it ends up being detrimental in another. Since different environments have completely different systems, only the mutations that are helpful in their situation stay.

Think about Snakes that live in the desert and snakes that live in the forest. While both are snakes, they are different from each other because of these small mutations that help them survive. Eventually, these changes do add up, and Desert snakes end up dying easily in the forest and vice versa, because they cannot compete well in that environment since they lack features that help them survive there, despite both being snakes. However, say you took a forest snake native to Asia, and let it go in a forest in Africa. While it is still different, it will either die out because it can't compete, or it lives and slowly changes to better match this new environment.

So what does that have to do with Microevolution? Remember how some bacteria eventually become immune to medication? Those are the ones that keep living, because the small mutation led to them changing therefore. Now, take this same bacteria and chart it's progress over 20 million years, and notice that all the small changes added up and they are now completely different.

So no, I can't show you an extreme change in kind like Archeopteryx to a modern day Chicken, because evolution is too slow a process. That's like asking me to show you an example of tectonic movement, even though the plates move at the rate your fingernails grow.

@Doree
Exactly, God wants us to be free, not like slaves. But most people think Christians are super religious people and pray to him 24/7. If us Christians are ''religious'' then compare us to other religions.

I don't wear a stupid hat (Jewish)
I don't have an ugly statue of fat guy (Bhudda)
I don't have to use a bathroom robe for the rest of my life (Arabic)
I don't have to worship a cow (India)
If my mom is dieing and she could be saved, I have to let her die (Jehovah witness)
If I get sick, I can't use any medicine at all (Christan scientists)
I can't eat meat (Iranish?)

To be honest, I find a superior creator more realistic than The Big Bang.

Aren't we all taught in science class that matter cannot be created nor destroyed? That pretty much disproves The Big Bang theory.
HanShotFirst (2013-08-21 04:16:36)
^^ You misunderstand the Big Bang, and the point behind the Conservation of Matter.

I'm going to grossly oversimply it to make the picture clearer.

Big Bang: A huge explosion of matter; think of it like a big bomb. After the explosion, the pieces of said bomb came together to form our Solar System.

Conservation of Matter: The universe is made up of small pieces, they can't be created or destroyed.

Yo Jackson. Never said it proved anything. I'm just saying that in my opinion I think The Big Bang theory is a tad ridiculous. But, don't get me wrong, I'm sure a God who created everything is just as ridiculous in your point of view.

And as for all your other questions, I do have answers. But don't expect me to be able to answer EVERY single one of them. I mean, how am I supposed to know every detail? I'm only a mere human.
If you would care to hear me preach a bit, just let me know.

@HanShotFirst

You make a valid point. I hadn't thought about it that way. Lol, who am I to go around disproving the Big Bang when I dont even know all the facts about it? Silly me.c:

Still though, a sudden EXPLOSION out of nowhere seems entirely bizarre to me.
HanShotFirst (2013-08-21 04:46:26)
Yet, as a mere human being, you have such conviction in your belief that there is a God, that you treat it as Truth.

That's what's known as Faith, and faith itself is the reason one can't intelligently debate the existence of God.

Edit: True, it seems a tad ridiculous and it's very difficult to understand if you're still in Middle school, but then again, Science is supposed to sound absurd, since human observation itself is absurd most of the time.

I don't simply have faith.
My years of attending church, I have uncovered so many facts and proof.
Kammeh (2013-08-21 04:53:15)
Science is supposed to sound absurd? Isn't religion absurd enough to be considered science, then? Lol. c:

^I'm not actually being serious That was a joke

HanShotFirst (2013-08-21 04:54:33)
Nonono. You can't prove anything on the basis of Faith. Your "facts and proof" are simply more thing you have to have faith in, since the "proofs" cannot be proven as true either.

The reason being, you start at the endpoint (God Exists) and you work from there to try to validate your belief.

Science is the opposite. You start at beginning with the question, then gather information, to find the conclusion.

Edit: and Yes. Human observation can be absurd, and that in turn bleeds over into science, which is based on human observation. When the Greeks first saw people riding horses, they thought these people were Centaurs.
