People who hold Love Live to too high a standard are the same as the people who think that Marvel and DC movies are actually good.
ie people who like ugly formulaic garbage made to appeal to a simple minded demographic

Oh yes because having a liking towards something as simple as an anime or movie can be incorrect

You can like something that's fundamentally bad, that's fine. You can like whatever you want. You just have to realize that it isn't good. Most people can't grow out of and accept that the things they like are bad. Even nutsy can at least admit that Love Live isn't good production wise even though he likes the characters.

But the definitions of good and bad vary from whomever you may ask. So basically what you mean is, just make sure you realize Kishy does or doesn't like it.

You know I always express my opinions more that anyone here, but there's a difference between things being objectively bad and subjectively bad. An opinion is me saying that Love Live is ugly, a fact is me saying that Love Live is poorly produced and has characters that are flawed anime tropes personified, most of them lacking a conplex conflict altogether. For example a girl who's only defining feature is that she's quiet and just happens to like idols to accelerate the plot.

You're lucky I can analyze these things for you, usually people form a SJW argument about LL because the idol industry in Japan is very sexually charged and often dark. (I recommend the movie Perfect Blue, excellent shot direction amd writing.)

Well lucky for you, I won't be watching Love Live anyway. Mega PMed me trying to make me as he did with Zootopia.

I just checked it out; I'll add it to my list.

EDIT: I only have one more episode of the anime I'm currently watching, so I'll see if I can buy/rent/download it tonight and watch.

Lucky for you. I watch things that aren't good all the way through so I can fairly pick them apart. I wouldn't act so harshly towards something I haven't finished. I'm pretentious, but not that pretentious. I do it so I can save the people like you who aren't capable of doing so.
Nemesis (2016-07-28 23:23:37)
Not capable of picking something apart? LOL, alright. It's not that I'm not capable, more like I'm not interested in the said item enough to pick it apart, especially if it wasn't good in the first place. When I watch Perfect Blue, I guarantee you I can pick it apart and analyze it, if you're interested enough to have a discussion with me.

I think in order to properly appreciate Satoshi Kon's vision you're gonna have to watch most of his films. I like to discuss things in relation to production, studio, and related bodies of work.

Evidently Perfect Blue was really big in France. Ordering this poster soon:

Edit:
@mega
I've taken two film classes at my uni and a comparative literature class which have helped. One film class was to fulfill an arts credit for my university's curriculum and the other was a higher level I took just because. Comp lit classes are just hyper-analytical and focus on group discussion.

Oh, then I wouldn't have any experience there. Sorry.

People connect SJW stuff to Love Live? Any form of entertainment is going to be sexualsexually charged although it doesn't help that so many J-pop songs in general are empty love songs targeted at virgin otakus.

I just had an epiphany. Love Live is actually anti-idol culture and blames idols for Japan's low birthrates.

I promise I'm not insane just give me a day or two to construct this better.

^This is what the average woman in America is supposed to look like by 2050.

EDIT: Here's another image I found.

So I looked it up and there was some stuff blaming Love Live for promoting child pornography. Before I even read anything, the only way I could see this being true is because the manga is kind of lewd. (It kind of is, I've read a bit, but there's far worse) The first link was a Reddit thread but the OP linked to a nonexistent Tumblr blog. Someone in the comments brought up this Nozomi card and yeah, I agree how out of place it feels.

A bit farther down there was an article that I'm assuming was similar to that Tumblr post criticizing the game but once again, it's still really tame. And yeah, it's mostly a problem with anime in general and not just Love Live. Not that the extremists who actually do fall under what it was criticizing aren't doing anything wrong, but most people aren't going to be on that level, especially in the US.

Also, anime isn't the cause of declining birthrates but it isn't exactly helping. In short, Japs worked too much and didn't have time for a relationship and 2D girls filled the void. People could make money of this so they pandered to it. So I guess it might be the cause now????? I dunno.
Nemesis (2016-07-29 01:17:59)
Plus, a bunch of Japanese people don't even like anime. It's like saying cartoons with pretty super hero women or video games with prostitutes will keep all American men from liking real life women.
