Leviathan (2015-05-13 05:35:33)^ Carlos has screwed up way more and way more severe than any other forum mod. He is rude to pretty much everybody, and nobody likes him. There are ten people that are as active as he is. Promote one of them and demote him because he obviously is getting a horrible reaction because he believes he is right 100% of the time despite the fact that when there is a fork in the road, he is going to choose the one that pisses everybody off. The majority agrees in his demotion.
This Thursday.

carlos11 (2015-05-13 11:59:23)At this point, I'm obviously the best moderator, just saying. If you think otherwise, then that just goes to show how terrible you (SirDavid and Leviathan) would be at this and how little you know of what I do. It's funny how you keep saying I always mess up when in reality I don't mess up at all, you're just making things up because you're just so horribly biased it's disgusting. I don't even mess up "every now and then."

CoolApps (2015-05-13 12:02:49)So.. How did this become a thread about bad moderation?

carlos11 (2015-05-13 12:17:26)Leviathan went on a rampage as usual because he's permanently buttmad at me.

Just because Carlos doesn't admit his wrongs doesn't mean he's a bad moderator enough to be demoted. I honestly haven't seen anyone else but a select few (most being specifically butthurt by Carlos) screaming for his demotion. Unlike Bellamy, 90% of the rest of the site doesn't really care if Carlos is a forum mod or not.
So he deleted a thread wrongly ages ago (I understand the butthurt, but it was just one thread and it hasn't happened again recently) and he "misused" the D3000 (this has already been settled, and he hasn't and won't do it again). The only other argument being that he's not as strict as you'd prefer him to be, which honestly is what is causing all the hypocracy. You want him to be strict with the people/content you don't like it, but the moment he's strict with you or anyone else whom you like, it's a issue big enough for demotion. I haven't seen Carlos run around deleting every little thread he personally doesn't like, or lock them, or consciously let people swear and talk about mature content...which honestly sounds like that's what you're implying he does.
Also, just because the CM doesn't make decisions you want doesn't mean they're a bad CM. Plaza isn't being bestroyed by Carlos' moderation, or anyone else's. If the CM decideds Carlos is a bad mod, fine. If the CM decides Carlos is a good mod, respect that, because Carlos isn't that bad at all.
carlos11 (2015-05-13 12:51:35)I didn't misuse the D3000 at all. I only used it to ban people who broke serious website rules. If you think I misused it, you're on the side of the people that broke the rules. In other words, you're wrong.

carlos11 (2015-05-13 13:14:19)I assumed responsibility for the moderators who were not present. You cannot be the judge of whether or not that was wrong because you have no understanding of what a moderator can or cannot do. You keep forgetting that I am a moderator.

^ The D3000 erases all forum threads/posts(?) of the said user, while permabanning the account at the same time....the account still exists, the only content wiped from existence is their forum activity.
I'd just like to mention once again that SL had no issue with moderators moderating outside their specifc feild. If it's necessary, a chat moderator could ban a forum user, and if general banning was acessable to forum mods, a forum moderator could ban a chat user if necessary. The only thing wrong with using the D3000 to ban misbehaving users in the chatrooms is the loss of forum content.
BirdJesus (2015-05-13 20:45:03)I'd like more insight on the extent of a mod's powers.Â

Leviathan (2015-05-14 00:10:16)Lani, I'm afraid SirDavid is right about this. I'm sorry.
I agree with SirDavid and BirdJesus. I would also like to add that when I come to the art forums saying I am a good artist, and he just simply states I'm terrible, that's okay. But if I state he is terrible at his job, I'm overstepping my boundries. Carlos is extremely arrogent and believes he is never at wrong, every demotion was a mistake, and anybody who disagrees with him is just some radical.

I can now attest that the D3000 does not itself specify that it's only for spam, it only warns that it's "dangerous" and shouldn't be used if you don't know what you're doing. "Use wisely. It will be logged, Abusers will be banned and demoted"...Abuse of the tool is never specified.
Kishy and Andrew's opinion on Carlos' moderation doesn't matter because neither of them are CM anymore. That has nothing to do with anything anymore. If that's legitimate content for argument, we could bring up any past CM's choices for examples.
And finally, it can't be denied that moderation comes with putting users somewhat at mercy of personal opinions. Moderators are given the authority to decide what is SFW or otherwise, what's useless content, etc. Mods typically only face demotion when their opinions of such are drastically wrong (disregarding being demoted for other obvious reasons). You might not agree with every mod's actions, I might not agree, but that doesn't necessarily mean their action is wrong. Carlos remains in his position because he's an active, helpful forum mod, despite arguably messing up now and then.
SOOOOOOOooooooo when is the next radio broadcast, exactly?
