If my friend ever got mad at me for testifying, I'd be like "When you get out of jail, I'll give you half the money if only you forget about this whole thing"

Till then, my friend would forget everything that occurred including the money, and I'd spend the money in less than a month.

If it was a really bad crime like rape or something, I would definately testify. If it was just damage of property, stealing or something like that, I would just bullcrap my way out of the situation by saying something like "Look, sir/ma'am, I don't really want to get involved in this situation."
