The Illuminati was a secret society that formed in the early to mid 1700s. They got their name due to the fact that their main influence was enlightenment era ideals ('Illuminati' means "Enlighten" ). Due to this, they opposed the Monarchies of Europe with a passion, believing Democracy and Republicanism to be superior governments.
Because they were in direct opposition to the Crown, they were at risk of being executed as traitors. In order to hide themselves, they infiltrated Masonic Lodges. Freemasonry is a religion that values secrecy, mystery, and mysticism, and the Illuminati began to emulate the Freemasons around them. Rather than actually thinking of ways to establish a Democratic/Republic government, they spent all of their efforts trying to be a super secret society with passwords and Whatnot.
They were inevitably unable to function when the Masonic lodges were closed, due to not having a permanent base elsewhere. The few meetings they managed to make eventually led to infighting and splitting of the Illuminati into smaller, even more dysfunctional groups because of the idealogical differences between the democratic and republican members.
After a few short years, they simply broke up permanently, ending it. Then in Italy sometime in the early 1800s, they tried to revive it. This Neo Illuminati lasted about 6 weeks before they fell apart again.
You're basically telling me that this group of failures somehow managed to start up a 3rd time, and in 200 years, secretly infiltrated every government in the world, and because they rule everything, set the rises and falls in world economies for their own profit.
If that were true, then they're still obvious failures if they managed to cause 2 World Wars under their rule, effectively damaging the entire world they control to critical levels, then threatening it a 3rd time with total Nuclear War during the Cold War.
